One issue though is that the volume settings are overridden by the XM4s. Liking having something playing on PC and then starting something on the my phone doesn't switch over, but if I pause PC and start up on my phone it's like a second or two delay at most. Switching has been pretty quick so far as long as audio from one is off and then on the other. Overall they're quite comfortable.ĭual pairing seems good. Still figuring out the best way to wear them, definitely feeling some pressure on the top of my head that I don't get with my HD 598s, but nothing serious. I keep a box fan going in my room and it kills 95% of the noise it creates. ![]() And the sound quality lives up to the line's reputation on LDAC. Simply for the comfort and build quality alone, I'm pleased because my MDR-1000x had taken a real beating over the years of travel and just regular wear. Overall I'm impressed so far but there are some minor issues with dual connection, but I think I'll try pairing my iPhone with my iPad together later to see if that works better than with my PC. I usually just cupped the ear at home to listen if someone was knocking on my door or not anyway. But taking them off and putting them around my neck pauses the audio anyway and it would be more respectful to any potential people you might be talking to if you take them off anyway. I don't know if that's a hardware issue with my laptop because I have had problems with the bluetooth on it before.Īs a matter of comfort and build quality the WH-1000XM4s are much lighter and more comforftable, feel better, and the controls on the right ear are more responsive, but I do miss the cup to mute on the left. When playing from my iPad the connection was stable but when I closed the iPad and listened to YouTube on the laptop the sound cut out for a second intermittently. I am sitting in front of my laptop with my iPad and had them connected to both. One thing I did find is that the dual bluetooth connection wasn't very reliable and led to sound quality loss. Sound quality is just as excellent, though I am noticing some better treble than I heard on my MDR-1000x, but I'm not a super-audiophile or anything. ![]() Noise cancelling is noticeably better already.
